William P. (Buddy) Nelson was born in Kansas City, Missouri and raised in Greenville, South Carolina and Birmingham, Alabama. Buddy is a graduate of Mountain Brook High School, Samford University, and Southern Seminary. He has served in the following churches: First Baptist Birmingham as youth minister, Liberty Baptist Church in Leitchfield, Kentucky as pastor, First Baptist Oxford, Alabama as pastor, Riverchase Baptist in Hoover, Alabama as pastor and has been at First Baptist McClellan since May of 2002.

Buddy, a pastor's son, married Becky Bowles of Texas, who happens to be a pastor's daughter. Together they have two children, Bill and Brook, and a wonderful granddaughter Madelyn.

 

Wayne is a native of Union, SC. He received his B.A. in Economics and Business Administration at Furman University in Greenville, SC and his Masters of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry at Southern Baptist Seminary in Louisville, KY.

Wayne's wife, Carol Lois, went to be with the Lord several years ago. She was the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. D.M. Nelson, Jr. They had four children: Art, a banker in Jackson, MS; a daughter, Beth Meehan, who lives in Jacksonville, AL; Chip, pastor of FBC Starkville, MS; and Charles, who is Minister to Youth at First Methodist Church in Carlsbad, NM.

Wayne says he loves to play golf, even though he can't remember the last time he played. He also thoroughly enjoys the time he is able to spend with his eleven grandchildren.

Mandi serves our church as Children's Coordinator. In addition to overseeing our Children's programs and teaching Children's Church, Mandi is also in the process of creating a Mom's Day Out program. When you see her smiling face at church, you can be sure that the children from the church are close to "Mrs. Mandi." She is married to David Pearce, and they reside in Munford.





 

Joyce joined our staff in January 2009 as our part-time secretary. Her bubbly personality combined with her love for Jesus make her a joyous addition to the Church Office. Joyce grew  up in Oxford and retired from Ft. McClellan Credit Union after 23 years as Assistant Vice-President/Branch Manager. She and her husband T.K. live in Jacksonville and have 5 children and 9 grand-children.





 

Mary is from the great state of Ohio, but she has been in the South long enough to understand true Southern Hospitality. She feels that her position is one of ministry and service to the Lord. Mary is a graduate of Carlisle High School and is currently pursuing her Bachelor's Degree in Business online through the University of Alabama.

She is married to Buster Turner. They have 3 children: Chad, Brandi, and Kyle and 3 grandchildren: Brandalyn, Bryant Denny, and Addisyn Grace. Mary is a certified Ministry Assistant and has been a church secretary for over 15 years.
